The A&M single came without a special graphic, but Jamie had
worked out a wide variety of images with which to back it up.
"I must have done literally hundreds of different images
around that particular photo of the Queen's face. Which was
an official Cecil Beaton portrait that I got from the Daily
Express. I did two days of photographic sessions with Carol Moss
until I came up with the safety pin. There was no point in
beating around the bush: in many ways you use the same tactics
that you know are going to get thrown back in your face from the
likes of the Mirror and the Sun." Jamie Reid.
"The safety pin in the lip of the Queen was saying: 'You too can
be a punk'." Vivienne Westwood.
