In Manchester, the punk scene was dominated by the Buzzcocks. Pistols fans Howard Devoto and Pete Shelley started the group in 1976 and unable to get a record deal, released the punk classic, the Spiral Scratch EP on their own label. This self financed label was called New Hormones and the logo appears on early items of the bands stage clothes from1976.
